Great webcomics

There are lots of creative minds around the world. Some of them invest their time in hilarious comics. I will list a few of them here.

xkcd.org

xkcd is probably one of the best known comics. They vary some in quality but they all have that difficult-to-explain greatness about them. Please check out the above comic in full here.

Cyanide and Happiness, a daily webcomic

Explosm.net is actually very new to me but quickly made it to one of my favourites (ahh, rss-feeds!).

For those of you who've played WoW at some point in your PC career, I can heartily recommend Dark Legacy Comics. Just pick a random comic and have a laugh!

John Cleese in Compaq commercials

After I watched Steve Ballmer's commercial I stumbled upon a few hilarious Compaq commercials starring none other than John Cleese. Have a look at them below, they are very original in true 'Cleesish' style. See the first one below and follow the links for the other ones.

"Forget All Our Earlier Commercials"

"The Finger Trick"

"I Wouldn't Watch This Commercial"

The Crazy Frog of Microsoft

That's right, this post is going to be about Steve Ballmer. Since Windows 7 is released in less than a week this is a good time to review Microsoft's selling techniques. It all began back in the days with Windows 1.0:

Scary, no? Let's take a step into the future and behold! - the release of windows XP:

As you can see the commercial has changed quite as much as the OS!

Nevertheless, being at a conference with this guy has got to be fun. This is how he introduces himself.

And he were definitely listening in class when they talked about how to make your point clear in a speech:

So, fellow Windows users, we're in good hands.

While we're at it, I should include this spoof.

Visualization in iTunes is awesome

By accident I pushed a macro-button on my keyboard while I was in iTunes. Suddenly, I was blast away by an awesome flow of colours dancing on my screen: I had found the iTunes 9.0 Visualizer.

Now, you might think 'visualizers? That old WMP 90's crap?'. The answer, I guess, is both yes and no. It's a visualizer in the way it visualizes the music using some sort of algorithm but no in the sense that this is nothing like any other visualizer I've ever seen.

Enough talk, I'll throw in a couple of pictures and then please go and hit CTRL + T and then CTRL + F in iTunes and sit back in joy. I never thought I would give Apple that much appreciation...

Update: I just found a link to a low quality video showing the visualizer in action. Go here.

Video: Tribute to MJ

Every once in a while someone comes up with a cool idea. Usually, the idea is convincing, but when it's carried out it fails. In the video I found yesterday this is not the case.

Check out this video; a 7 man ensemble doing a 7-voice medley over Michael Jackson songs. The arrangement is extraordinarily good but the astonishing feat is it's only 1 guy! Watch it below and bow in awe.
